Several families in and around Glasgow will not have their loved ones by their side this Christmas. Over the year, we have had hundreds of missing person appeals, and while the majority are found safe and well, there are a number of people who remain missing to this day, with devastated loves ones searching for answers.
Christmas can be extra tough for families who have not heard from their nearest and dearest in weeks, months, or years. Police Scotland work to reunite families affected but, in some cases, the search will continue into 2026.
People in and around Glasgow who are still missing today:David Findlay
It’s been 17 years since David Findlay was last seen. David, a keen walker, left his home in Cardonald around 3pm on Monday 5 May 2008.
He never returned home and his family hasn’t seen or heard from him since. The last confirmed sighting of David was around 6pm on Monday May 5 2008 on Sauchiehall Street at West Nile Street.
Officers also followed up a number of unconfirmed sightings in Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Milngavie, Kirkintilloch, Shettleston and Kilsyth. However, all attempts to locate David proved unsuccessful.
David is described as 5ft 4 ins in height and of medium build with grey receding hair and gold rimmed glasses.
Mary Duncan
The three sisters of Mary Duncan who went missing nearly 50 years ago continue to for any information that could help find her or what happened to her.
Mary Duncan disappeared from her home in West Dunbartonshire in 1976, when she was 17 years old. She was last seen leaving her home in Alexandria on March 19 that year, after telling her family she was going to meet a friend, but never returned.
Mary had become pregnant at the age of 15 and gave birth to a baby girl, Laura Duncan, on February 17 1975. She did not take her daughter with her when she disappeared and baby Laura died of natural causes on October 25 1976.
Extensive investigations have been carried out in an attempt to establish any information regarding Mary’s whereabouts, however no trace of her has been found.
On Monday, 9 July 2018, Mary’s sisters Debbie, Marion and Mandy made an appeal to the media and the community of Alexandria for information at Dumbarton Police Station.
Paul Booth
Paul Booth was last seen on October 25 2016 on the footbridge between McGregor Road and Hillcrest Road in Cumbernauld.
Then aged 45, he is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with sallow skin and light brown cropped hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, jeans, white trainers and a beanie hat. Paul walks with a slight limp.
Despite extensive police searches and enquiries, officers are yet to obtain any information on Paul’s whereabouts.
Paul Harley
Paul Harley, was 53-years-old when he was reported missing from his home in Whiteford Avenue, Dumbarton on Sunday, September 28, 2014.
He is described as white, around 5ft 5ins in height and of slim build. He has black receding hair and a tattoo of ‘Kyla’ on his right arm.
Paul is known to travel extensively throughout Scotland using the rail network. He has family in the Nuneaton area which he has visited in the past.
In 2016, Detective Inspector Andrew Doherty of Dumbarton Police office said: “Despite extensive police enquiries and searches, we have yet to obtain any information on Paul’s whereabouts. This is obviously a very distressing time for the family and they are extremely concerned for him. There have been no confirmed sightings of him since he went missing.
“I would urge anyone who may know of Paul’s whereabouts, or who may have any information about him, to contact officers at Dumbarton Police Office through 101.”
Stuart Clark
Stuart Clark has been missing from his home in Dalmuir since January 17 2016. At the time, officers appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity of Dalmuir Square, Swindon Street and Dumbarton Road, Dalmuir between 12.20pm and 1pm on January 17 to contact them.
Officers would also like to speak to anyone who was in Mackintosh’s Bar (Macs Bar) at the corner of Swindon Street and Dumbarton Road, Dalmuir around 11am and 2pm on Monday January 18 2016, as there has been an unconfirmed sighting of Stuart there.
Stuart is described as white, around 6ft 2ins in height and of medium build with red hair and beard. Stuart also wears glasses and has a distinctive stilted walk.
Thanh Van Bui
Thanh Van Bui went missing when he was just 15 and was last seen around 7.45am on Friday June 12 2015 in the Pollokshields area of the city.
Officers working on the enquiry released CCTV of Thanh taken in the afternoon of Friday June 12 within Glasgow Central Station, in a bid to obtain more information on his current whereabouts. It is understood that he boarded a train bound for England.
Tom Graham
Tom Graham from Linkwood Crescent in Glasgow, was last seen in the early hours of October 27 2018 in the area of Edinbeg Place, Toryglen, Glasgow.
Tom, a high-risk missing person, is described as 6ft in height and of medium/athletic build, with short, dark hair. Tom also has a distinctive tattoo, the name ‘Sophie’ on the right side of his neck, a tattoo of a knife on his lower right arm and a tattoo of a black panther on his calf.
Anyone with any information as to his whereabouts should contact 101 quoting incident number 1844 of 26/11/2018.
Vincent Barr
Police in Glasgow are continuing to appeal for information to help trace missing man Vincent Barr. Known as Vinny or Bardo, the 54-year-old man from the Govan area has been missing since September, 2020. Enquiries carried out have confirmed the last sighting of Vincent was around 9.10pm on Friday, September 18 2020 walking across the Tradeston footbridge, known locally as the ‘squiggly’ bridge, and then heading into the wider Tradeston area.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 1116 of Sunday, 20 September, 2020 or alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Richard Doolan
More than 24 years on since Richard Doolan was reported missing, officers are continuing to appeal for help in locating him.
Richard was reported missing from Croy in 2001. He was last seen around 1am on Saturday, March 24, 2001 in Croy and has not been in contact with family and friends since then. At the time he was described as being 5ft 5 in height, with green eyes and short black hair and of stocky build.
Despite extensive searches and public appeals by Richard’s family and police, no-one has seen or heard from him.
