Under the agreement, GF will join Cloudberry’s newly launched venture fund as a limited partner and provide technical expertise and resources to help early-stage companies scale from concept to industrial production.
The collaboration gives GF direct access to emerging European startups, including university spin-offs and seed-stage ventures, enabling closer alignment between GF’s technology roadmap and next-generation applications. Areas of focus include autonomous vehicles, physical AI, Industry 4.0, and advanced communications.
By investing in Cloudberry’s fund, GF seeks to strengthen its role in shaping Europe’s semiconductor future. The partnership will allow GF to engage early with breakthrough innovations, bridging the gap between academic research, prototype development, and high-volume manufacturing.
GF is one of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers and offers specialised platforms such as FDX, RF technologies, silicon photonics, and power devices for automotive, industrial, IoT, AI, and consumer markets. Startups supported through Cloudberry will gain structured access to GF’s technology teams and design resources, helping reduce time-to-market and accelerate growth.
“GlobalFoundries’ market-leading, highly specialised chip technologies are built on innovation and collaboration,” said Manfred Horstmann, General Manager and Senior Vice President at GlobalFoundries Dresden. “By partnering with Cloudberry, we are accelerating and deepening Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem, working closely with early-stage startups to gain insight into emerging innovations and deliver tailored solutions that help them scale quickly.”
Veera Pietikäinen, founding partner at Cloudberry, described the partnership as a long-term initiative to reinforce Europe’s technological sovereignty.
“Europe has world-class talent and deep expertise in semiconductors and photonics, and companies like GF have already made significant investments to develop and scale that expertise. Building on this foundation, we are creating a specialised platform to help these companies grow even further,” she said.
