Eagle-eyed Scrubs fans think they’ve spotted a sweet tribute to the late actor Sam Lloyd in the latest teaser trailer for the rebooted show. Released yesterday, the new trailer sees John Michael “JD” Dorian (Zach Braff) and Chris Turk (Donald Faison) performing the “Eagle”.
Announced back in December and set for release in February 2026, the revival will see a number of cast members reprise their roles from previous seasons, including Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and John C McGinley.
One member of the cast who will not be returning to the show is Lloyd, who starred as downbeat lawyer Ted Buckland. The actor sadly died in 2020 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2019.
A fan-favourite, Ted appeared in 95 episodes across the show’s run between 2001 and 2010. He was known for singing with his a cappella group The Blanks aka The Worthless Peons.
Taking to Facebook, a couple of fans thought they saw a portrait of Ted in the new trailer, appearing behind Turk and JD in the hallway – though the image is very blurry and could be anyone.

Sharing a screengrab from the new trailer, one fan wrote: “Portrait of Ted behind them.”
Other fans simply questioned how the show would address Ted’s absence, with one person writing: “Wonder how they will handle the whole Ted thing?”
“Sadly Ted and Bob are no longer with us,” penned another, with one fan saying: “I hope they mention Ted!”
Another fan added: “Ted will be missed. Scrubs will never be the same without Ted’s confused look and his arm swung over his head. Always making what little hair he had left, stick up all over the place once he theatrically dropped his arm to his side.”

Over on Instagram, fans shared their hopes for the revival, suggesting that the show honours the late actor’s beloved role.
“I hope they still honor him in some way, knowing the writers, I think they will,” penned one fan, with another writing: “I hope in the show they give Ted a good “send off” or lovingly give fans some closure to his character.”
Scrubs season 10 premieres on Hulu and ABC on 25 February 2026.
