Tributes are pouring in for a talented East Lothian woman who has passed away at the age of 34.

Kerry Gentle owned The Crow’s Perch tattoo studio in East Linton and also served as an RNLI volunteer in Dunbar, known by many as an ‘absolute delight’.

A spokesperson from RNLI Dunbar said station staff were “deeply shocked and saddened” by the passing of their fellow crew member.

Kerry became a volunteer after attending a recruitment event aimed at encouraging women to get involved with Dunbar RNLI. Starting initially as a shore crew member, she was promoted to the role earlier this month and had begun her training to join the lifeboat crew.

Their statement added: “In a short space of time, Kerry impressed everyone with her enthusiasm and dedication to the role and quickly became a popular and valued member of the team.

“Her untimely loss has deeply affected everyone at Dunbar Lifeboat Station. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with Kerry’s family and friends.

“We have been greatly touched by the support from the wider RNLI and search and rescue family, with many lifeboat stations across the UK and Ireland and beyond lowering their flags as a mark of respect in Kerry’s memory.”

Kerry was also a ‘well respected and loved’ member of the tattoo community in Scotland, with those who knew her saying she will be ‘greatly missed’.

The Crow’s Perch was described by Kerry as her ‘little safe space’, where she specialised in one-of-a-kind designs in a ‘warm and judgement free environment’. The Scottish Tattoo Convention (STC), which Kerry was involved with, told us: “Kerry was an absolute delight.

“An amazingly talented artist and tattooer. She was well respected and loved in the tattoo community and will be greatly missed.”

A further tribute on the STC Facebook page reads: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of one our dearest friends, @kerrygentletattoo. Kerry was an amazing artist, and a great friend. She’ll be missed by all at the STC, her friends and clients.”
