Ramsgate Street and Chapel Hill, in Edgefield, near Holt, are due to shut for five weeks from January 12.

This is due to vital drainage works, estimated to cost around £60,000, which will be carried out by Norfolk County Council.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The works involve installing an additional gully at the northern end of the scheme, clearing root ingress from existing carrier pipes, replacing the collapsed outfall pipe located at the southern end, and adding kerbing around the existing gullies in the verge to reduce debris accumulation.”

The council added that access for pedestrians and to properties will be maintained wherever possible and a diversion route will be in place.

Motorists who normally park on the affected section of Ramsgate Street have been asked to park elsewhere whilst parts of the works take place.

The diversion route will take motorists through Briston Road, Sweetbriar Lane, Norwich Road, Holt Road, and Edgefield Road, totalling six miles.
