Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale legend Claire King has addressed her future on the soap, dismissing claims that her character Kim Tate could be in grave danger. Despite a turbulent few weeks for the Dales’ pre-eminent schemer, it doesn’t look like she’ll be going anywhere soon.
The iconic character has been in the wars in recent times after she was involved in an accident, with Lydia and Sam Dingle injuring Kim in a shooting incident which claimed the life of her beloved horse, Ice.
This tragedy came after a failed attempt at love for Kim, with the character falling for the deadly Dr Crowley before the romance came to an end. With all this playing on her mind, Kim has pushed away her loved ones this Christmas.
Despite the character going through a heap of drama, King, who first played the character in 1989, assured fans of the ITV soap that she had no intention of leaving the famous role any time soon.

“From my side, I would like to stay,” she told The Mirror. “But they might have plans to get rid of me already! I have read things like ‘Kim’s fate is doomed’, but I certainly haven’t read that in the scripts. It’s why I don’t ever read anything on social media.”
While King’s future is seemingly secure, the festive season will prove to be a lonely and difficult one for Kim as she pushes her family and friends away in scenes that will be part of a life-changing arc for her character.

Speaking about Christmas, King said Lydia and Kim’s friendship will be “tested to the limit”, adding: “[Christmas] can be a happy time, or it can be a disastrous time, as there’s usually a birth or a death at this time of year. So, who knows what we’re getting this year?”
“I’m looking forward to a break at Christmas… I will need a break as there’s more drama in store for Kim, in the New Year, and this could turn her world upside down. It’s all very, very exciting and very secretive,” she added.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
