Peter James Clarke died as a result of an accident, a funeral notice said.
The 35-year-old, from the Creevy Road in Lisburn, passed away on December 23 after an accident several days earlier.
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police received a report that a man aged in his 30s had been found with serious injuries in the Upper Mealough Road area of Carryduff on Wednesday, December 17.
“Officers attended the scene alongside emergency services colleagues and the man was taken to hospital.
“Sadly, he passed away from his injuries on Tuesday, December 23.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
A funeral notice called Mr Clarke a “dearly beloved son”, “dear brother” and “loving fiancé”.
“Will be loved and remembered always by his sorrowing mum, dad, brothers, fiancée, family circle and friends,” it added.
A funeral service will be held at Edengrove Presbyterian Church, Ballynahinch, on Saturday at 11.30am with burial afterwards at Garvary Parish Churchyard, Tempo Road, Enniskillen.
Tributes were paid online to Mr Clarke with the community saying how they were “devastated” and “heartbroken”.
One person posted: “Thoughts and prayers with the entire family terrible news, Peter was a gentleman.”
Formerly a pupil of The High School Ballynahinch, another person said: “he was such a character in school”.
Rowan Lodge Farm Equine Haylage – a provider of equine haylage based on the Creevy Road where the deceased lived – posted on Facebook describing him as “A true gentleman and unbelievable friend – our hearts are broken.”
DUP councillor Callum Bowsie told the Belfast Telegraph that Mr Clarke will be “missed by many”.
“I am saddened to hear the tragic news about Peter Clarke, especially so close to Christmas,” he said.
“Peter was well known in the Ballynahinch area and will be missed by many.
“My thoughts are with his family and friends at this devastating time.”
DUP councillor Uel Mackin also said: “I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences to the entire family circle. In my thoughts and prayers.”
