Police are investigating a deliberate fire at a home in Edinburgh on Christmas Day.

Emergency services raced to the property on the capital’s Stevenson Drive after receiving the alarm at 6.45pm on December 25. Three fire engines and one neight vehicle were scrambled to the blaze after locals reported smelling smoke in the air.

It’s understood there were no injuries. Fire crews left the area after extinguishing the blaze at 7.31pm.

Police say they are treating the fire as wilful, with inquiries into the circumstances ongoing. Images taken from the scene show multiple firefighters in attendance while a large cordon was erected around the property.

Officers in uniform could be seen standing guard.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told our sister title, Edinburgh Live: “Around 6.45pm on Thursday, 25 December, 2025, officers received a report of a fire at a property on Stevenson Drive, Edinburgh.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed: “We were called to Stevenson Drive at 6.41pm on December 25 after reports of a dwelling fire.

“We dispatched three appliances and one height appliances. Crews left at 7.31pm after the fire was extinguished.”
