ITV have announced that a popular chat show will be getting axed in the broadcaster’s latest shake up. The Chris McCausland Show, which stars the Scouse comedian who won the last series of BBC‘s Strictly Come Dancing, will be getting pulled from air.

The show aired on Saturday mornings at 8.30am on ITV, with it making its debut in June 2024. It saw Chris interviewing a number of famous faces including Celebrity Big Brother’s Donna Preston, singer Pixie Lott, funnyman Rob Beckett and actress Taj Atwell. However, after just one series, it has now been axed.

An insider told The Sun: “Chris was a breath of a fresh air, but ultimately there are no plans for his show to return.” They added that the changes had been made as: “ITV appears to be moving away from studio-based chat shows in their weekend schedule.”

“In the last number of years they’ve invested heavily in their daytime programmes and have given new faces an opportunity to shine,” they said.

ITV described the show when it first aired, saying: “This 11-episode series will feature a brilliant line-up of celebrity guests and will be packed with humour, insights and inevitable shenanigans.

“Chris will immerse his guests in his audio world with interactive games that will have viewers of all ages laughing and playing along at home. And to top it all off, he’ll have live acoustic performances that will be the soundtrack of your weekend.”

Despite the Strictly winner’s show not being renewed for a new series, the 11 episodes that already exist are still available to watch on ITVX.

Chris is still keeping very busy with other work, away from ITV. He previously announced that he is working on a book and this May he is set to take to the stage for his show Yonks! He will be putting performances on all across the UK, in locations such as Chester, St Albans, Warrington and Dudley.

After winning Strictly he has also stayed in contact with his professional dance partner, Dianne Buswell, and the two record the Winning Isn’t Everything Podcast together.
