41-time French international Djibril Cisse has given a brutally honest take on France’s new rivalry with Argentina.

France lost to Argentina on penalties in the 2022 World Cup final and they go back into the 2026 tournament among the favourites.

Since that defeat ill-feeling towards Argentina has only increased with racist chanting from their team bus over French players and their heritage, recorded on social media by Enzo Fernandez.

Later in the Olympics the two sides met and there were numerous scuffles with tensions clearly high over the chanting.

Reflecting on the incident, Cisse said: “After seeing the footage, I was furious.

“I feel a lot of hatred towards them. Clearly, today they are our main enemy.

“I want to win the third star in Messi’s last World Cup match. We have two or three scores to settle with Argentina.”

He then singled out Fernandez, saying: “I can’t understand how his French teammates at Chelsea forgave him.”
