• Kate Middleton has admitted in the past that she takes too long talking to well-wishers at royal family walkabouts.
  • It seems her only daughter Princess Charlotte takes after her, as Prince William was seen calling for Charlotte to catch up after the 10-year-old got caught up talking to the crowd on Christmas morning.
  • Charlotte joined other members of the royal family for their annual Christmas morning walk to church on the Sandringham estate yesterday.

When it comes to a royal family walkabout, for Princess Charlotte, her style seems to very much be a case of like mother, like daughter. After all, the 10-year-old has been called her mother Kate Middleton’s “mini-me”—and their close bond is always evident, especially so this week.

Charlotte, along with other members of the royal family, took part in the royals’ annual Christmas day walk to church at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate. As is custom, the royals took part in a walkabout with well-wishers who had gathered to see them on the path to the church—and Charlotte looked like an absolute natural at mingling with crowds.

The young princess wore one of the Princess of Wales’s go-to designers, Catherine Walker, for the occasion—a beige coat with brown trim at the collars and sleeves. Per What Kate Wore, Charlotte’s ballet flats were by Tory Burch, and she completed her look with a favorite accessory—a dark hair bow.

According to Hello!, Charlotte “happily smiled and posed for selfies” with members of the crowd; one well-wisher commented that Charlotte was “such a little star.”

The Princess of Wales has long been open about her propensity to spend too long talking to individual well-wishers—and it’s a trait Charlotte seems to have inherited, too. During one moment on Christmas morning that was captured on camera, Charlotte’s father Prince William was heard “gently calling to his daughter as she lagged behind slightly,” chatting away with members of the crowd.

“Charlotte,” he called, to which his daughter replied, “I’m coming,” before catching up with her family ahead of her on the path.

Last year, it was Kate who fell behind the rest of her family on the Christmas day walk, per The Daily Mail. “I seem to have lost my family!” she quipped, seeing William, Prince George, Charlotte, and Prince Louis far ahead of her.

Kate previously spoke in a 2016 documentary honoring Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday about how there is “a real art to walkabouts,” adding, “Everybody teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting. I still have to learn a little bit more and to pick up a few more tips, I suppose.”

Charlotte is proudly like her mother, who a palace source previously told People was “a bit of a mini-me” of the Princess of Wales. The 10-year-old is also like her great-grandmother Her late Majesty, as a source told the outlet that Charlotte is “a natural and has taken to royal events like a duck to water.”

“She is quite a strong character,” an insider continued, calling William and Kate’s only daughter “almost wise beyond her years.”

Kate and Charlotte’s mother-daughter bond was on full display this week, as they performed a surprise piano duet that aired during the Christmas Eve broadcast of Kate’s “Together at Christmas” carol concert, filmed at Westminster Abbey earlier this month. The two played “Holm Sound” by Scottish composer Erland Cooper, who poignantly wrote the song for his own mother—also named Charlotte.

Mother and daughter performed the piece at Windsor Castle, Kate playing with just her left hand, and Charlotte playing with just her right hand. “Princess Charlotte played beautifully—she really has a wonderful way of playing the lighter notes just beautifully,” Cooper told Hello!. “So we were able to celebrate in that together.”

“I was invited to witness this incredible bond between mother and daughter performing together, and for that I am so grateful,” he added.
