The restaurant is no stranger to a celebrity guest

A West Derby restaurant welcomed a celebrity guest in the form of Liverpool actor Stephen Graham. The Adolescence star popped into Macello Meathouse yesterday, and was happy to pose for pictures on the Turkish steakhouse’s Instagram account.
In the post on the macellowestderby page yesterday, December 26, a spokesman said: “So nice having true British talent stop by. Loved hosting you at Macello, @stephengraham1973 — hope to see you again soon!”
Macello’s is popular among the city’s footballers, as evidenced by the restaurant’s Instagram page, where it has served players such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Former Liverpool players Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were also often pictured at the restaurant.
Graham, who was born in Kirkby, secured the win for Best Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie in this year’s Emmy Awards for his role in the wildly popular Adolescence. The programme claimed the prize for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and best director in the same category for Philip Barantini.
His 15 year old co-star Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty triumphed for their supporting roles. Co-creator also claimed the Emmy for Best Writing in a Limited Series or TV Movie.
Graham is set to return to television screens in the new year for the second season of Disney+ drama series A Thousand Blows, which tells the story of Jamaican boxer Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) as he lands in London in the 1880s.
As he attempts to climb the boxing ladder, he encounters the ruthless Henry “Sugar” Goodson, (Stephen Graham), the self-proclaimed “emperor” of the East End’s illegal bare-knuckle boxing world.
The new series will explore where Hezekiah Moscow, Sugar Goodson, and crime boss Mary Carr (Erin Doherty) find themselves twelve months after the events of season one.
A season preview, released earlier this month, shows the trio brought back together as Goodson addresses them: “You’re probably wondering why I’ve gathered you all here. I understand some of you wish me dead. And I don’t blame you.
“We’re in danger and we can’t afford to doubt each other.”
After the conclusion of the first season, Hezekiah has become a mere shell of his former self, whilst Sugar remains alienated from his loved ones and drowning his sorrows in alcohol.

Things only begin to shift when Mary makes her return to Wapping, accompanied by her trusted lieutenant Alice Diamond (Darci Shaw) to rebuild her criminal organisation the Forty Elephants.
She arrives equipped with a scheme that will require the involvement of all her closest allies – and “this time it’s riskier than ever”.
What makes this even more thrilling is that the wait won’t be extensive, with the second season set to launch on Friday, January 9, on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
The stellar ensemble will also be returning alongside several fresh faces joining the production.
Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty, known for their roles in Adolescence, are set to reunite for the second season of A Thousand Blows, alongside Small Axe actor Malachi Kirby who will be playing Hezekiah Moscow.
James Nelson-Joyce will be returning as Edward “Treacle” Goodson, along with Darci Shaw as Alice Diamond, Hannah Walters as Eliza Moody and Jason Tobin as Mr Lao.
New faces for the second season include Ned Dennehy, known for his role as Charlie Strong in Peaky Blinders, who will be portraying Bull Jeremy.
Catherine McCormack, famed for her role in Braveheart, will also be joining the cast of A Thousand Blows as Sophie Lyons.
A Thousand Blows season two premieres on Friday, January 9, on Disney+.
