A shocked resident told how a children’s play park has been cordoned off by capital officers. An image shared with Edinburgh Live shows tape erected around the Meadows Play Park.

The local noticed the cordon at around 7am on Sunday December 28. They stated they witnessed a police officer standing at the park monitoring the area.

The exact nature of the incident is unknown at this time. However the local stated children had been stopped from entering the space on Sunday morning, they also claimed there had been a ‘crazy increase in crime lately’ in the area.

A section of a public walkway has also been included in the cordon. The site is located just off of Melville Drive adjacent to Meadows Croquet Club.

Police Scotland said they attended the site after reports of an attack however after reviewing CCTV it was found friends were ‘play-fighting.’
