Sheffield United will be aiming to put more daylight between themselves and the Championship’s relegation zone when they face Stoke City on Monday.
The Blades were beaten 5-3 away at Wrexham on Boxing Day, as they squandered a 3-1 lead that they had built up inside the first 25 minutes in North Wales.
Patrick Bamford hit another brace for Sheffield United during that defeat, and he will be looking to add to his tally of five goals for the campaign in their upcoming trip to the Bet365 Stadium.
Chris Wilder’s men are set to go up against a Stoke City side who have ambitions of promotion to the Premier League, and know that victory on Monday could potentially lift them into the play-off positions.

Sheffield United fans have been frustrated with their team’s performances so far this term, as the newly-relegated side have been competing at the wrong end of the table from their perspective.
A six-game unbeaten run across November has dragged them out of the relegation zone, but Wilder’s side are still nervously glancing back over their shoulders, with just a four-point gap between them and the drop zone at present.
Stoke are also coming into the Monday night contest on a stuttering run of form, as a spell of just one win in their last six games has put something of a dampener on what had been an excellent start to the season.

Sheffield United’s eye-catching recent record vs Stoke City
Sheffield United dismantled Stoke 4-0 in the reverse fixture at the start of December, and that game was the latest in a long line of chastening scorelines for the Potters against the Blades.
Sheffield United’s recent Championship record vs Stoke City, as per 11v11.com.
The Midlands outfit have tasted defeat in each of their last four meeting with their opponents from South Yorkshire, and they have failed to even find the back of the net in their last three encounters.
The latest 4-0 demolition followed consecutive 2-0 defeats, meaning that Stoke haven’t got the better of their upcoming opponents since way back in October 2022.
Robins and Co. will be desperately hoping to see that change on Monday, and they may never get a better opportunity to claim three points against United.
