The caravans were damaged but nothing of high value was taken
The incident happened at G&H Taylor Caravan Storage off Todmorden Road in Littleborough
Around 45 caravans were broken into in a series of ‘strange’ burglaries in Greater Manchester. The incident at G&H Taylor Caravan Storage off Todmorden Road in Littleborough took place on Saturday night (December 27), affecting half of the caravans on the site.
Bentley Taylor, who runs the company, said that around 45 caravans were affected but nothing of high value was stolen. Caravan owners and their relatives have shared details of the damage caused to their vehicles, and their belongings inside, on social media.
Commenting on Facebook, one woman said that her father-in-law’s caravan was ‘trashed’ with urine found in the shower tray. The door was also damaged. However, according to the post, nothing seemed to have been taken from the caravan during the incident.
She wrote: “they peed in my father in laws shower tray too its disgusting they don’t seem to have taken anything from his just trashed it and damaged the door x”
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, another woman who asked to remain anonymous, said that some personal items were taken from inside her caravan as well as coins, shoes and a new rug. The three-week-old cover on the caravan was also ‘shredded’.

She said: “I’m really annoyed. As pensioners it’s our place where we take our pets and have a lovely few days away.
“Now it will have to go into the repair garage. We are insured but still have to pay £200 excess.”
Mr Taylor, who runs the caravan storage company, told the M.E.N. that the site has CCTV, a security fence and two electric gates. But the perpetrators were still able to get inside and cause damage to around 45 of the 80 or so caravans that were there at the time.
He said: “We’ve had issues previously but not on this sort of scale. They’ve taken absolutely nothing of any real value, but they’ve caused damage to the caravans. It’s very strange. It’s never happened before.”
A GMP spokesperson said: “We were called to an address on Todmorden Road, Rochdale following reports of a series of burglaries on Saturday 27 December.
“Officers attended the scene where several caravans had been damaged with personal items believed to have been taken
“Enquiries are ongoing at this time.”
