Plans have been lodged with East Lothian Council to transform the church hall on Wallyford’s Salters Road into the home of a business.

Edinburgh-based Culbertsons Renewables Ltd is behind the proposals, which are being weighed up by the local authority.

Currently, the building is home to a large room, as well as kitchen and toilets.

Drawings included with the application show office space, a staff room, meeting room and a workshop.

A design statement included with the application notes: “The proposals to the existing building are to extent at ground level around the existing footprint to create office space and at a section of workshop to the rear of the existing building.

“At the rear of the site, following the principles established within the previously consented scheme, we are proposing a double height sawtooth extension to house a mezzanine within the workshop for a staff room and office, along with high level glazing and an area for renewable, including solar.

“The proposals are of domestic scale to the front of the site and to the public road, with the rear of the site housing the partially hidden industrial scale elements.”
