It will have nine holes and features of the local area
An adventure golf course could be coming to a hotel in Gloucestershire
A hotel is planning to create an adventure golf course for residents and locals.
Hilton Puckrup Hotel & Golf Club in Tewkesbury wants to build the nine-hole course with sleeper, rock and stone edgings. It will feature ‘props’ representing key features of the local area, a planning application to Tewkesbury Borough Council says.
In a planning and heritage statement prepared by Zesta Planning, it is said the development is within the grounds at the rear of the hotel, on what is currently a patio near one of the restaurant areas.
It adds: “The development would enhance community wellbeing and access to recreation by providing inclusive leisure opportunities for families, hotel guests and local residents, improving the site’s amenity value and supporting health and social interactive.”
An it says: “The adventure golf course will be ancillary to the existing facilities at the Hotel & Golf Club… the main users of the facility likely to be the families of already established users of the Hotel & Golf Club.”

The proposal is described as being one that would help support the existing hotel and golf club though diversifying the leisure offerings present at the site.
It says: “The proposals allow for the broadening of leisure offerings at the existing hotel and golf club and support the business into the future by generating additional visitor spending, extending overnight stays and creating seasonal and permanent job opportunities in operations, maintenance and hospitality….
“This subsequently supports the employment of members of the local community and helps strength the local tourism economy without requiring new greenfield development.”
The hotel also has a swimming pool, spa and golf course. Puckrup Hall, in Puckrup Lane, Puckrup, is a Grade II listed building, the main building has since had later additions and more recent buildings constructed.
