10 Tamworth Street in Tyersal will have a guide price of between £20,000 and £25,000 when it goes under the hammer at an online property auction on January 27.

But one condition of the sale will be that the buyer has to refurbish the property within a year.

The house is just off Dick Lane, next to a car wash.

Bradford Council currently has a policy of purchasing long empty properties, then selling them on at auction. It is part of a push to bring empty homes back into use.

The listing, by Pugh auctions, says: “The property comprises a living room and kitchen-diner to the ground floor, with a bedroom and bathroom to the first floor.

“The property benefits from double-glazing throughout and central heating – it otherwise requires comprehensive renovation.

“It may be possible to create off street parking subject to any necessary consents.

“The sale is subject to a restriction in favour of the Council whereby the buyer is to renovate the property to a habitable condition for occupation as a dwelling house within a period of 12 months. In the event of default, the Council will have the option to buy back the property.”
