Celtic have given Stephen Welsh the green light to see out the season at Motherwell.
The champions have been delighted with the central defender’s loan at Fir Park.
He has been a standout this season for Jens Berthel Askou’s shock troops.
Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy is still assessing his own squad.
He had considered recalling the 25-year-old but feels he would benefit from staying out and playing regular first-team football.
It has been a move that has benefited Motherwell and Welsh, while playing well and regularly has also added to his Celtic value.
Welsh’s impressive form has already seen him tipped to win a Scotland cap.
That is very much a goal that is in his thoughts if he can continue his impressive form at Motherwell.
Welsh asked to go out on loan under Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season because he felt at this stage of his career he needed more game time.
He has played 15 times for the Steelmen and wants to try and keep them in the fight for the European places.
It has also helped that he is playing in a team that is full of confidence and playing good football under the Danish boss.
Celtic travel to Motherwell tomorrow but Welsh will have to make do with a place in the stands, as part of his loan agreement from his parent club.
Welsh also had a good loan at Belgian side Mechelen last season.
