Birmingham city council has issued a reminder of the changes to bin collection days over the festive period – including the one bin not to put out.

Every year, waste collection dates change to allow for time off over the Christmas and New Year.

With Christmas wrapping paper and waste building up over the festive season, residents across the city will be eagerly awaiting this week’s collection.

Instead of Christmas Day, Dec 25, the collection should have taken place today, Monday, Dec 29. Boxing Day’s collection will also be moved to tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec 30.

The rest of the dates are pushed back by two days, for example the New Year’s Eve collection will instead take place on January 2.

The last revised date will be on January 4, 2026 – instead of the original date of January 2. After that, collections will return to normal.

In a reminder to residents on Dec 29, Birmingham city council said: “There will be changes to waste collections over Christmas and New Year.

“Check the table below for your rescheduled collection days. Collections on all other days not listed below will take place as normal.”
