Josie Pops Kitchen attracted attention among the city’s foodies as it held pop-ups at the Hutch.

But after high demand for exotic dishes from the southeast Asian country, Josie Popera has set up a new spot on Suffolk Street.

Iconic Filipino dishes that will be served up include BBQ pork skewers and chicken inasal.

The passionate cook previously took part in Britain’s Best Home Cook in 2018.

Josie said: “If you’re craving a wee Filipino BBQ fix, you’ll find me every weekend at the Barras Market.

Scots cafe dubbed ‘the birthplace of Harry Potter’ reopens after four years

“The gazebo has officially retired and I’ve upgraded to one of the new containers on Suffolk Street!

“Craving a taste of Asia? From crispy Lechon Kawali to our famous Ube Cake, come and enjoy authentic Filipino food.”

Posting on social media, the Barras market team wrote: “New to Suffolk Street @josiepopskitchen bringing you authentic Filipino cuisine.

“Check their page for menu options. Market open til 4pm today.”

Josie was born in the Philippines but has lived in Scotland for the past 15 years.

Elsewhere, a popular cafe dubbed “the birthplace of Harry Potter” has reopened four years after a devastating fire.

The Elephant House Cafe in Edinburgh city centre officially opened its doors once again today.

It comes after firefighters spent over 26 hours battling a huge blaze at the George IV Bridge venue in August 2021.
