With the January transfer window due to open in just 24 hours, the rumours are growing. Leeds United are expected to be active, but to do so, they may need to cash in.

Managing director Robbie Evans made it clear after the last window that any more additions, on top of the 10 already made, would see Leeds go over the line. However, it didn’t prevent a Harry Wilson move.

LeedsUnited.News understands there’s money to spend and PSR room to use. Whether Leeds uses it and try to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad remains to be seen, but if they do, they may have to make room.

Jack Harrison is the subject of talks with Valencia, while Illan Meslier is likely to leave with Celtic keen to take him north of the border. But recent signs suggest there could be a more surprising January exit.

If we get offered £10m or more for Gnonto we have to sell, right? 🇮🇹

That money can be used on someone better suited to the 3-5-2 formation… 💰

What Willy Gnonto did at full-time against Sunderland on Sunday

Willy Gnonto’s demeanour makes him an easy player to love. The Italian’s smile is always beaming, always seemingly delighted when a pal scores even if he’s on the bench. But there have been attitude issues, too.

He tried to force an exit in 2023 after relegation, with Leeds forcing him to stay. This season must have been a frustrating one for Gnonto, who has had to wait for his chance after losing his place due to injury.

The change in formation doesn’t help Gnonto, with Farke ridding the need for wingers. Reports in the last few weeks have suggested Leeds are willing to listen to offers for Gnonto given he is a big PSR profit.

Then, on Sunday, another moment that suggests an exit is inevitable. Having been left on the bench, Graham Smyth reports that Gnonto walked straight down the tunnel after the full-time whistle went.

The escape route on offer for Willy Gnonto in January window

Gnonto is regularly linked with a return to Italy’s top tier over the years at Elland Road. Gnonto’s old team Inter are unlikely to be interested, but there could be a few mid-table teams willing to spend for Gnonto.

Fiorentina will certainly be one of the more active sides in January after a dismal start to the Serie A season. La Viola remains at the bottom of Italy’s top tier with just nine points secured from 17 matches.

Reports claim Fiorentina want to sign Gnonto in January. The winger might not be particularly interested in a move to La Viola given the threat of relegation, but certainly, clubs are interested in the Italy star.
