A road in Prescot has been cordoned off after a man was spotted on a roof. Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to Warrington Road in the town centre at around 10pm on Tuesday, December 30, following reports of concern for the safety of a man.

A witness told the ECHO the man was seen “throwing tiles off the roof.” Multiple police vehicles and three fire engines remain at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re currently trying to engage with him and get him down safely, but there’s not much more we can say at the moment as the incident is ongoing.”

Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: “A57 High Street in both directions blocked due to police incident from A58 St Helens Road to Atherton Street.”
