As the biggest-selling car in history, it’s one of Britain’s favourites – but it’s also popular with thieves.

The fact new Fiestas are no longer made has only made them more of a target, with parts surging in value as a result.

Other commonly nicked models include the luxury Ranger Rover Sport, the Toyota Hilux and the Nissan Navara.

Details were obtained by motoring firm cinch through freedom of information requests to the DVLA between 2022 and 2025.

Unsurprisingly due to its large population, theft numbers in the West Midlands are second only to London, with nearly 54,000 over the last three years.

Ben Welham, motoring expert at cinch, said: “These figures show that vehicle theft is a relentless problem affecting tens of thousands of drivers every year.

“While we haven’t seen dramatic increases year-on-year, the scale of the issue remains deeply concerning for motorists across the country.”

He went on: “It’s little surprise that the UK’s best-selling car of all time, the Ford Fiesta, is also its most stolen.

“With a consistent demand for parts on the black market and the sheer number of models parked on Britain’s streets, the Fiesta is likely to remain top of the list for a while yet.

“The presence on the list of high-value diesels like the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger reflects a different criminal strategy.

“Premium SUVs and robust pick-up trucks are targeted for export markets where they command top prices.”
