It is almost time to turn our backs on another year and begin New Year’s Day celebrations. This may see many of us getting together with family and friends and with supermarkets expected to be busy over the upcoming days, it’s important to make sure you are stocked up on all the essentials needed for kicking off the new year.
Unlike Christmas Day, there is no law preventing stores from being open on New Year’s Day, but some supermarkets may decide to reduce their opening hours as part of New Year’s celebrations. With this in mind, shoppers should remember to check when their local store is open before heading to the shops.
So to help you plan ahead and avoid disappointment, here is when Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose will be open over the New Year period.
Aldi
Aldi closed stores on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and the retailer has confirmed it will again be closing stores on New Year’s Day. Doors will then typically re-open at 8am on January 2.
