A Midlothian man was hauled away by police after being confronted on camera by a ‘child protection group’. The man was visited at an address in Gorebridge on Saturday, December 27.

In a video streamed on social media he can be seen casually leaning against a door as an unseen woman from the self-styled “child protection team” throws questions at him. When he claims not to know the answers, she shuts him down, telling him she already knows.

He moves into another room, quickly followed by two other people from the group. The screen then goes black as a shouting match ensues, with the woman firing accusations at him as he protests.

He then sits in silence on a bed smoking, keeping his head down as she continues to interrogate him.

After another 10 minutes, the police arrive at the scene, as members of the team exit the property. The force later confirmed a 44-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Shortly after, officers can be seen marching him down the front path towards a waiting police car. The man was due to appear in court on Monday, December 27.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police attended at an address in Gorebridge, around 12.40pm on Saturday, 27 December, 2025 following reports of a crowd gathering at a property.

“A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 29 December, 2025.”
