The death of an influencer’s five-year-old son came as a huge shock after the family revealed ‘miracle’ news just days earlier. A heartbroken Paul Kim took to social media on Thursday to reveal his son Micah died on New Year’s Eve.

The influencer took to Instagram to share the devastating news. He said his son has fought for 11 days after contracting a severe case of flu.

However, days before his tragic announcement, the family appeared to have had what they thought was good news about their son’s condition. In a GoFundMe page that had been set up to try to help the family cover medical expenses, the organiser offered a glimmer of hope on Christmas Day.

The update on December 25 read: “Merry Christmas everyone! We are blown away by the generous support everyone has been pouring out upon the Kim family. Thank you x a million!!!

“GoFundMe has a feature that updates and increases the goal automatically. Because the expenses and extent of medical care are unknown and likely in the hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Kims, we’ve left this feature on – which is why you’ll see the goal changing.”We had good news today that Micah’s heart keeps improving and getting better!!! This is huge!

“Please keep praying for his brain swelling to go down and for his complete healing in Jesus’ name, through the intercession of Fulton Sheen. God bless you all, hug your loved ones today.”

Sadly, it wasn’t to be a positive outcome and Paul took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news. Taking to his platform, he told his followers his son had been “fighting” for “11 long hard days” before losing his life.

“We are so proud of him,” Paul said. “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart as his dad, on behalf of my family, for all the ways you guys prayed and lifted us up during this time.

“This incredibly difficult, impossible time for our family. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my life and it continues to be.”

He added: “”As much as this time I just want to have privacy and have time to mourn with my family I felt like I owed all of you an update, just out of gratitude.

“Micah is already in Heaven at work, seriously, so many testimonies, so many ways in which God is using the light in my five-year-old to truly save souls and change the world.”

While a number of followers have so far helped raise over $350,000 for the GoFundMe, others were quick to pay their respects in comments on Paul’s post.

One user wrote: “There are no words. I am so sorry. Your faith during this most unbearable of trials has been an inspiration to even more people than you know.”

Another penned: “Our hearts are with you. We are so deeply sorry for your loss and are lifting you and your family up in prayer. Your faith has been such an inspiration, and we trust that the Lord is holding Micah close in His loving mercy.”
