Nathan Bushnell has been named and pictured after fatal crash in Leeds

Tributes have poured for a a man who died in a horror crash in Leeds. West Yorkshire Police were called out to Ouzlewell Green, near to the junction with Cemetery Lane, in Lofthouse, Leeds, at 2.16am on New Year’s Day to reports of a car that had overturned in a collision.

The force confirmed that a 31-year-old man was pronounced as dead at the scene. He has now been named locally as Nathan Bushnell from the Pontefract area, Yorkshire Live reports. Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene of the collision.

Numerous people have paid tribute to Nathan via social media. One person wrote: “I’m absolutely shocked that Nathan Paul Bushnell has gained his angle wings! We had some great training sessions with the rest of the lads at your space and he was one of the nicest and kindest lads I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.

“I’m absolutely saddened by the news of his passing! I know he’ll be training up there in god’s gym doing what he loves doing! R.I.P buddy.”

Another wrote: “Cannot believe the phone call I received when I woke up today. If there was any way I could’ve known the laughs and brotherly hugs we shared last night were going to be the last I would’ve hugged you tighter and laughed harder than ever.

“You really don’t ever know what’s around the corner, life can be so cruel, hold your loved ones close and cherish every moment with them! Rest In Peace my brother Nathan Paul Bushnell Until we meet again. Love Always and Forever”.

West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses, and said: “Officers were called at 2.16am yesterday (January 1) to reports that a black Vauxhall Astra had overturned on Ouzlewell Green near to the junction of Cemetery Lane.

“On arrival a 31 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specially trained officers. Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have been driving through with dashcam footage.”
