Wakefield Trinity

Daryl Powell is preparing his Wakefield Trinity team for their second season back in Super League.

The West Yorkshire outfit exceeded expectations last year to claim a play-off spot and they have every right to approach the new season with optimism as they strive to kick on and take the next step as a club.

Changes have been made to the squad with Tyson Smoothy and Jazz Tevaga being the most high profile names added, while Jack Sinfield, Tray Lolesio, Will Tate and Jordan Williams have also been added to Powell’s side.

The Trin havesee n players leave with Josh Griffin, Liam Good, Renouf Atoni and Olly Russell among the most notable exits. But, Powell will be confident that he is going into 2026 with an upgraded squad, so how might they line up?

Wakefield Trinity predicted line up

Well, Max Jowitt looks set to keep hold of the full-back spot going into 2026. His form wavered at times towards the end of the season with Josh Rourke stepping into the fold and impressing when he had the chance.

But it will be Jowitt at one, with Jake Trueman and Mason Lino in the halves together once more.

The outside-back line up is up in the air, with Lachlan Walmsley, Tate and Jayden Myers all pushing for spots. However, judging by the squad numbers and Powell’s comments after the Boxing Day clash with Leeds Rhinos, with the head coach highlighting Oliver Pratt’s ability to play on the wing, we think Pratt and Tom Johnstone could be the wingers, with Cam Scott and Corey Hall taking on the centre spots.

Mike McMeeken and Ky Rodwell look to be the starting props with the explosive Caius Faatili and Caleb Hamlin-Uele coming off the bench.

Seth Nikotemo and Matty Storton look set to play back-row roles with Isaiah Vagana coming off the bench, while Tevaga looks set to play at loose-forward.

Smoothy can play at 13, too, but his best position is hooker and he looks set to share the role with the exciting Harvey Smith, who will be coming off the bench with regularity in 2026.

Wakefield Trinity predicted line-up: Max Jowitt; Oliver Pratt, Cam Scott, Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone; Jake Trueman, Mason Lino; Mike McMeeken, Tyson Smoothy, Ky Rodwell; Seth Nikotemo, Matty Storton; Jazz Tevaga.

Bench: Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Caius Faatili, Harvey Smith, Isaiah Vagana.
