A park in the Ferguslie area of Paisley was sealed off by police on Thursday morning following a reported assault.

Glencoats Park was cordoned off at both entrances as officers carried out enquiries after a man was attacked nearby.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 38-year-old man was assaulted around 2.10am on Thursday 2nd January, in the Oakridge Crescent area of Paisley.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. His condition has not been confirmed.

Police closed the park while officers carried out door-to-door enquiries in the surrounding area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:
“Police were called around 2.10am on Thursday, January 2, to a report of a 38-year-old man assaulted near Oakridge Crescent, Paisley. He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
