Premier League champions Liverpool travel to west London to face Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have endured a difficult season so far, although a recent improvement has seen Arne Slot’s side climb back up to fourth in the top flight table after dropped as low as 11th after a disastrous spell in the Autumn.

Victory against the Whites at Craven Cottage on Sunday could keep Liverpool firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification, while some more optimistic supporters may still believe that they can retain their top flight crown if Arsenal falter.

In the meantime, however, it has emerged that the Merseyside outfit are exploring a shock move to sign an England international.

According to indykaila News, Liverpool have made contact with Crystal Palace to explore whether or not midfielder Adam Wharton could be available.

It is claimed that the Premier League champions are assessing whether or not a deal for the midfielder could be agreed at a realistic price, with Wharton likely to cost a significant amount due to his growing reputation.

Wharton, 21, joined Palace from boyhood club Blackburn Rovers back in January 2024 and made an immediate impact at Selhurst Park, with his fine form earning him a surprise inclusion in the England squad for the European Championships that summer.

The central midfielder didn’t feature at the tournament in Germany, but has now been capped three times by the Three Lions at senior level.

At club level, the 21-year-old has made 67 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions and established himself as an instrumental player for Oliver Glasner’s side.

The midfielder is also widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in Europe in his position, but his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Despite Liverpool’s interest in the player, he is contracted to Palace until the end of the 2028/29 season which could put the south London side in a commanding position.
