Birmingham sign left-back Wagner from MLS side Philadelphia Union

Birmingham City have signed defender Kai Wagner from MLS side Philadelphia Union for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old German left-back spent seven years in Philadelphia, collecting 63 assists, and is the Blues’ first signing of the January window.

He has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at St. Andrew’sk.

“I’m a player who always tries to go forward and attack, but who also likes to defend,” he told the club’s website, external.

“It’s a hard-working club, a club where the fans are really into it and that’s really important as I’m a hard worker myself.”
