A 15-year-old boy was injured in a stabbing in Greater Manchester on New Year’s Day. Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Lower Broughton Road in Salford on Thursday (January 1).

It followed reports of an assault which left the victim, a 15-year-old, with minor injuries. He was taken to hospital from the scene for treatment.

Two other boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody to be questioned. They have since been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police said. Videos taken at the scene and shared online showed a police van in attendance along with an ambulance.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called to reports of an assault on Lower Broughton Road in Salford yesterday (Thursday 1 January 2026).

“The victim, aged 15, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Two boys – aged 14 and 15 – were arrested on suspicion of affray. They have been bailed.”
