Our ‘Then’ image was taken in May 1965 and shows construction work taking place to build the club, which opened later that year.
A notice was placed in the Greenock Telegraph that September inviting members of the public to take a first look around.
The new club cost £17,000 to build and was established to host youth activities, such as sports and arts and crafts.
It was reported at the time of opening that 200 members had signed up to join the club and that from the outset there was to be no religious bias within the clubs many activities.
Sadly our ‘Now’ picture shows no trace of the youth club, which has since been demolished, with the site now only populated by overgrown trees.
