Demonstrators gathered in cities around the world to denounce the US military intervention in Venezuela that removed Nicolás Maduro from power.
While some Venezuelans celebrated Maduro’s capture, protesters decried the US operation as overreach and an affront to Venezuela’s autonomy.

Protests were staged in front of the US Embassy in the Spanish capital of Madrid. Many Venezuelans reside in Spain, including opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez.
Venezuelan protester Eugenia Contreras, who has lived in Spain for five years, told Reuters that it is “unfortunate” that some Venezuelans have celebrated the ousting of Maduro.
“This is a crime against our nation, because intervening in our land, in our sovereign people, is an act of aggression,” Contreras said.
Madrid resident Carlos told CNN that US President Donald Trump “has not hidden” that the intervention was done “for control of the oil in the territory.”

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Havana, the capital of Cuba, on Saturday, Reuters reported. The Cuban government has maintained its support for Maduro and condemned the US operation.
Crowds of protesters also convened in Bogota, Colombia on Saturday.
“As a Latin American woman, we want to tell the world that we are absolutely and unequivocally rejecting this criminal, murderous, colonialist invasion,” Martha Elene Huertas told Reuters.
Members and supporters of India’s left-leaning political parties gathered in New Delhi to express solidarity with Venezuela on Sunday.
In the Turkish cities of Ankara and Istanbul, protestors unfurled banners decrying “imperialism” and demanding that the US “get your hands off Venezuela.”
