Despite a summer of heavy recruitment, Rovers are in desperate need of bodies this month. Ismael wants three or four players, with an initial deadline set of two before next week’s trip to Hull City.
Rovers have seen a bid for Barnsley’s Reyes Cleary knocked back whilst they’ve been linked with Erin Cashin and Ben Gibson.
Ismael made it clear they will be targeting Championship-proven players that can ensure they stay in the Championship.

“No, I don’t want to speak about the target. We spoke about it internally with the club,” he said on links to Cashin, speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire.
“But as I said, we did our job quickly. The board agreed on the targets we decided to do. But you see now, on one hand, we have to deal and negotiate the player we want now.
“We are in an emergency case, I would say now. It’s about finding available players. In the best scenario, English players or British players who can help us straight away.
“If we can buy it, that’s better but it’s a different situation. If it’s a loan, it is a loan. We just need to make sure we do what’s right for us and find the best way to get the players we want.
“If it has to be a loan player, we’ll take a loan player.”
Rovers came from 2-0 down to earn a point against Charlton Athletic. Ismael was unhappy with the first half but pleased with the response after the break.
“I was not happy at half-time and I told the players,” Ismael admitted.
“My feeling was that we gave away the first two goals. It was unnecessary; we are in possession, we have to pass the ball back, not try something special.
“We lost the ball and we got punished. The second one, we can discuss if it’s a penalty or not but we didn’t defend the second ball properly.
“It was very important to score just before half-time because this gave us the belief. We knew it was game on and we’re always strong in the second half.
“It was a good second half. We were on the front foot and tried everything. We scored the goal and I think we should have a penalty for handball. You see clearly he stops the ball and it was wide from his body.
“We asked the ref to get an answer but we didn’t, it’s always the same. I am happy with the mentality to come back into the game. It’s a good point compared to the Sheffield Wednesday point.”
“In my mind, I knew we had to score before half-time. It was the only thing in my mind,” he added.
“I knew we needed to find a way to score. It helps you as a manager to give some positivity and belief to the players. We felt the energy was in the changing room at half-time.
“It was avoidable to be 2-0 down, unnecessary. It’s the third game this week, there is fatigue in the players so maybe you understand some of the decision-making.
“We actually were closer to winning this game than losing this game. So again, the performance is right. The last few games, I think we missed just the first half against Wrexham and we got punished straight away.
So we take this into account, we need to recover now properly.”
