S4C, the Welsh language broadcaster, has confirmed it does not plan to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
S4C has confirmed to ESC Spot that it will not be competing in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Wales has been eligible to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest again since 2024, following the withdrawal of the BBC from the contest.
Wales competed at Junior Eurovision in 2018 and 2019, having previously been represented as part of the United Kingdom from 2003 to 2005. Their debut entry “Perta” by Manw finished in 20th place in 2018. The following year, “Calon yn Curo” by Erin Mai managed to make 18th place.
Despite not making it to the Eurovision Song Contest itself yet, Wales has also previously participated in Eurovision Choir twice, even taking second place in 2017.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026
Lou Deleuze won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Tbilisi for France with “Ce monde”. She scored 248 points, giving France their fourth victory in history and tying them with Georgia for the most wins overall. However France has declined hosting the 2026 contest, as a result a bidding process is likely to take place.

Wales made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Minsk. Manw represented Wales on their debut with “Perta”. She finished 20th in the final, scoring all of her 28 points from the online vote. The following year, Erin Mai finished 18th in Gliwice with “Calon yn curo”. Wales then withdrew from the contest and has not returned since.
