New Year’s Day 2026 will forever be special for a Coventry couple – as they welcomed a new bundle of joy. The start of the New Year was made even more memorable for proud Katelyn and Ryan.
They welcomed the newest addition to their family – Maeve – at 3.28am. She was the first baby to be born at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire today (January 1). Maeve, who is a younger sister to Harper, weighed 8lbs 1oz.
UHCW sent well wishes to the new addition to the family and added: “A huge well done to midwife Ariyana and our amazing Maternity team.”

There is a UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) cold weather alert in place until 12noon on January 5, and it is said that this could lead to a ‘significant’ impact on people’s health. The online alert states there is potential for significant impacts across health and social care services and Hospitals across our area have already seen a rise in demand and people are being urged to only attend A&E in an emergency and calll NHS 111 for advice and information.
