Six firefighters have been injured after two fire engines they were travelling in collided in north London, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

The incident happened at about 22:17 GMT on Saturday at the junction of Farringdon Road on Clerkenwell Road.

LFB assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne said the fire engines were both responding to an incident in Islington which has been resolved.

He confirmed that six crew members were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and then taken to hospital for checks. The brigade and the Metropolitan Police have started an investigation into the incident.
