Planning permission has been granted for Sea Lanes Canary Wharf, a floating, natural water swimming pool in Eden Dock.

Approved proposals include a 50m, six-lane, natural water floating swimming pool within the dock water, two saunas powered by 100% renewable energy, community clubhouse hosting year-round wellness events, an exciting food and beverage offering and store including a wetsuit concierge service.  The site will be operated by the hugely successful team behind Sea Lanes Brighton, the UK’s first National Open Water Swimming Centre.

Open 364 days a year for swimmers of all ages and all competencies, the pool is designed for lane swimming and to act as a stepping stone between pool and open water.  Both pay-per-swim and membership options will be available.

Set to complement the recent landmark regeneration of Eden Dock, Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will provide a unique opportunity for Londoners to swim in clear, natural water and connect with the environment, all whilst in the heart of London.  The water in Eden Dock is tested regularly to EU Bathing Standards, consistently achieving an “Excellent” rating.

Joe McNulty, Director at Sea Lanes said: “We’re thrilled to bring a National Open Water Swimming Centre to the heart of Canary Wharf, offering Londoners a chance to swim in natural water. Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will be more than just a swimming pool – it will be an urban oasis for health and wellbeing all set within the green and biodiverse waterfront of Eden Dock. We’re excited to create a space where Londoners can connect with nature, their community, and themselves.”

Shobi Khan, CEO at CWG said, “Almost one year on from the opening of Eden Dock, we’re making another bold step forward in the enhancement of our green and blue spaces at Canary Wharf.  Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will build on the success of Eden Dock as a unique wellness destination, where access to nature, leisure and world-class amenities are seamlessly integrated.”

Construction is set to begin in early 2026, with an opening date in Summer 2026.
