Spanish paper and packaging producer Saica Group has acquired the recovered paper collection business of FCC Ámbito, a subsidiary of FCC enviro.
The transaction was carried out via Saica Natur, the group’s waste management and environmental services division.
With this transaction, Saica Group expands its recovered paper collection network in Spain, adding the activities of FCC Ámbito’s plants in Madrid, Cáceres, Valladolid, Asturias, Vizcaya, León, and Toledo. These facilities employ more than 150 people and generated sales of €33m in 2024.
Following the transaction, Saica Natur operates a total of 47 plants, including 36 sites in Spain. The remaining facilities are located in France, Portugal, the UK and Poland. Saica Natur’s workforce increased to over 1,700 employees.
The Saica Group produces recycled containerboard as well as corrugated and flexible packaging. The group employs more than 12,000 people and operates in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Turkey, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and the United States. Consolidated group turnover amounted to €3.7bn in 2024.
FCC Ámbito is part of FCC enviro, the environmental services arm of the FCC Group. The company provides municipal services and comprehensive waste management solutions. According to FCC enviro, the business manages around 27m t of waste per year and produces 5.3m t of secondary raw materials and refuse-derived fuel. It operates more than 860 waste management facilities.
