The Grand National at Aintree is, quite simply, the biggest contest on the horse racing calendar.

It’s a race that grabs public attention like no other thanks to the big field of runners, iconic spruce fences and historic storylines. The Nash has been revamped in recent years, but it remains the one they all want to win.

Nick Rockett managed just that in last year’s renewal and it proved an emotional affair for legendary trainer Willie Mullins as his son, Patrick, did the steering. It was also a second success in a row for the Closutton master following I Am Maximus’ triumph in 2024.
