Leeds United have received another boost to their hopes of staying in the Premier League in the latest Opta SuperComputer model.
Daniel Farke and his Leeds side have gradually opened up a significant gap on the relegation places in recent weeks, with the Whites now sitting eight points clear of 18th place.
This represents a remarkable turnaround for a team who were in the Premier League bottom three at the beginning of their current seven-game unbeaten run.
Leeds have several doubts for their trip to the North East to face Newcastle United in midweek; however, Farke knows he has some margin for error after his side’s recent good run of form.
This newfound comfort is reflected in the latest survival prediction from Opta, who have significantly reduced Leeds’ chances of being relegated in their statistical model.

Opta SuperComputer backs Leeds United for Premier League survival
Following consecutive defeats against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, the Opta SuperComputer gave Leeds a 52.81% chance of being relegated, predicting that they would finish the season with just 35 points.
However, the odds have shifted significantly in Leeds’ favour since then, with the latest Opta model showing just how far Farke’s side have come.

According to the latest SuperComputer prediction, Farke’s side will now finish the season on 42.18 points in 16th place, ahead of Nottingham Forest on 38.33 in 17th and 10 points ahead of West Ham in 18th on 32.07.
This is also reflected in Leeds’ probability of being relegated, which has dropped from over 50% to just 7.38%, with West Ham’s chances of dropping to the Championship now at 76.65%.

However, despite Leeds’ encouraging recent run of form, Opta are less optimistic about their chances of picking up a result at St James’ Park.
Leeds and Newcastle played out a turgid 0-0 draw at Elland Road earlier this season, but the Magpies’ home advantage tips the balance in their favour for this game.

According to the prediction, Newcastle have a 63.8% chance of securing a Premier League win against Leeds, with the away side given a 16.9% chance of picking up a win, and with 19.3% chance of the game ending in a draw.
But Leeds have made a habit of defying the odds in recent weeks and, having improved away from home in recent weeks, Farke will be confident that his side can pull off a draw on Tyneside.
