A Spider-Man 4 rumor suggests a new MCU villain will be getting a comic-accurate costume.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, arrives in United States theaters this July. Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will see Tom Holland once again reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

What is the new Spider-Man 4 rumor?

There have been several rumors that Boomerang — a villain created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby who debuted in Marvel Comics in 1966’s Tales to Astonish #81 — will be one of the villains that Peter has to face in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

While there’s been no formal announcement about this matter and nobody has been publicly cast in the role as of yet, scooper Daniel Richtman is saying that Boomerang will not only be in the movie, but he also has a “comic book suit” that is “so cool.”

Insider Cryptic HD Quality also posted about the matter, saying, “Boomerang supposedly has a very comic accurate suit for BND.”

In addition to Holland, the confirmed cast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day includes Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Cargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln. Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas, and Severance’s Trammel Tillman have also been cast in the movie in undisclosed roles; however, recent rumors suggest that Tillman’s character will be in charge of the Department of Damage Control (DODC).

Other rumors that are now going around are that Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi has been cast as MJ’s new boyfriend in the movie, while Billy Clements is reportedly playing a villain named Ramrod. These have not been confirmed by Marvel at this time.

Spider-Man 4 arrives on July 31, 2026.
