All this week on Planet Rock we’re counting down the 500 Greatest Rock Songs of All Time, as voted by thousands of YOU, our esteemed listeners.

The epic five-day countdown commenced at 7am on Monday 5th January with The Kinks’ 1964 classic ‘All Day and All of the Night’ kicking things off at Number 500, followed by Led Zeppelin’s ‘Going to California’ (No. 499) and Asia’s ‘Heat of the Moment’ (No. 498).

Other seminal acts played on the opening day include Queen, Scorpions, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Motörhead, Genesis, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Heart, Rainbow, Genesis and Marillion to name but a few.

The rock anthems will continue be revealed from 7am to 7pm every day until Thursday, and from 7am to just after 5pm on Friday when Darren Redick will play the song you voted at Number 1. Who will it be?!

We’ll also be revealing the full Top 500 Greatest Rock Songs of All Time on this page, and you can feast your eyes on all the songs featured as of 7pm on Monday 5th January below.
