Tributes have been paid to a “beautiful” young woman who suddenly died on Hogmanay after being rushed to an Edinburgh hospital.

Paige Lindsay was rushed from her family home to hospital on Tuesday, December 30, but tragically passed away the next morning.

Her heartbroken mum, Jacqueline says the 30-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by paramedics from their family home.

She was then transported to Edinburgh for an emergency liver transplant, says the grief-stricken mum but, sadly, did not make it and passed away on Wednesday, December 31.

Paige leaves behind parents Jacqueline and Allan; siblings Kaye and Allan; nieces and nephews Grace, Sean, Bradley and Riley and her cousins and aunties, who she loved dearly, reports Glasgow Live.

“We are all feeling numb”, 51-year-old Jacqueline. She says her daughter’s death, just one week after the family returned from a holiday in Rome, was unexpected. They are now waiting for an autopsy and toxicology report to find out the cause.

Paying tribute to her “beautiful girl”, Jacqueline said: “Paige was a buzzball, a fun-filled, loving girl who was always smiling. She liked to help people and loved her family.

“She was so funny and loved her nieces and nephews. Rome was our last special holiday together as a family, and she loved it.

“We’ve got our faith so there’s a lot of prayers to be done and said for Paige, and for her body to be received in heaven.”

Paige’s cousin, Hope Kilgour, has set up a GoFundMe page to help towards her funeral expenses and to “take some of the pressure off of her grieving parents and siblings at this unimaginable time”.

It has surpassed a target of £2,000 and has so far raised over £8,500 for Paige’s send-off.

Jacqueline continued: “My house is full of love. We are a strong close knit family, we are now closer than ever. The support is just amazing.

“It gives me great comfort knowing she was loved.”
