There was quite the bombshell on Corriedale on Monday night, as a dead Emmerdale character was revealed to be very much alive.

As the crossover with Coronation Street got underway, we kept seeing a hooded figure in more than one scene. Their identity was shielded, until they appeared at the hospital in a scene with Joe Tate.

Prior to this, they were driving a van with a mystery character tied up in the back. So when it emerged the driver and the hooded figure was none other than Graham Foster, it was quite the shock.

Graham was killed off in a whodunnit back in 2020 – with it ultimately revealed Pierce Harris killed him in a flashback. But in Corriedale, actor Andrew Scarborough was back in the role, and confirmed alive as he spoke on the phone to a mystery person, watching as Joe was speaking with nurses.

So what has brought Graham back after all this time, and more importantly why did he fake his death? How did he even manage that, given he looked very dead when we last saw him?

Whatever he’s got himself caught up in and who he’s working with also remains a mystery. But fans were left reeling over the big bombshell, not expecting to ever see the character again.

One viewer said: “welcome back graham foster,” as another said: “Well Graham coming back from the dead was not on my bingo card.” A third thrilled fan posted after the scenes: “Graham is back superb thought it was a massive mistake killing him off great character.”

It comes as cast members teased far-reaching consequences for the soaps going forward after Corriedale. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding teased how the big event will impact Shona and her husband David Platt.

Julia told us: “Imagine David and Shona and their life is a ball of wool. Imagine what would happen if a cat got hold of it, it would unravel.” Sally Carman-Duttine added: “There’s a possibility lives will be forever changed. There was a lot of frantic energy. We were all on a night shoot.”

As for Theo Silverton actor James Cartwright, he promised both soaps would never be the same. He told us: “There’s moments that will have real far-reaching consequences.

“It will change soap land forever. Soap land will never be the same again because of it. It’s like a meteor coming to Earth. You can take cover but it’s landing!”
