Move On supports people across Glasgow and Edinburgh who are facing a wide range of challenges, including experience of the criminal justice system; in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction; long-term unemployment; are or have been impacted by homelessness; and poor mental or physical health.

In accordance with his contractual obligations, John will step down on May 11, 2026. This decision, although a difficult one, given his longstanding association with Move On, will allow John to pursue new challenges and opportunities.

Reflecting on his time with Move On, John expressed gratitude towards the many board members and chairs he has worked with, specifically acknowledging the unwavering support of the current chairman and board.

Since its humble beginnings in 1997, the organisation has grown exponentially under John’s leadership and has become a vital source of support, training, guidance and encouragement for thousands.

“It has been a privilege to play a big part in the Move On story, and I look back on my time with great pride.”

As Move On embarks on this new chapter, the organisation said it expresses deep appreciation for John’s exceptional service and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.

The search for a successor to continue upholding and advancing Move On’s mission is expected to begin shortly.
