High street store closures are ramping up in 2026, with Claire’s Accessories and The Original Factory Shop the latest retail casualties after falling into administration yesterday.
Some 2,500 jobs in the UK are at risk in a fresh blow to the retail sector, with Modella Capital confirming that insolvency proceedings have been launched for both businesses after efforts to rescue them failed.
Concerns have been raised over the future of the high street and the in-person shopping experience, as more British retailers experience difficulty in navigating the market.
