Rangers have reportedly identified BK Hacken star Silas Andersen as a top target this month.
Danny Rohl is ramping up a major squad shake up with the backing of US owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises after steering the Light Blues back into the Scottish Premiership title race. Record Sport revealed that Rangers are looking to sell up to six players this month in order to fund deals for new recruits, while the likes of Lyall Cameron could be allowed to leave on loan.
That frees up space in the midfielder engine room with Bold reporting that the Glasgow giants have “made enquiries” over a deal to land Andersen. The 21-year-old saw a move to Nottingham Forest blocked last summer, while FC Copenhagen also held an interest.
It is claimed that Celtic are also tracking the Denmark U21 cap. Häcken football director Martin Ericsson has warned they won’t let the player leave on the cheap, stating: “He is a very important and high-profile player for us, so of course something special is needed.”
Rangers have also shown an interest in resurrecting their summer interest in former Hearts star James Penrice. Ex-Ibrox caretaker gaffer Barry Ferguson thought he had a deal in place to bring the Jambos defender to Govan at the end of last season.
But the swoop fell through when Ferguson was overlooked for the Gers gig in favour of Russell Martin. The 27-year-old did quit Tynecastle over the summer but instead ended up with Greek outfit AEK Athens.

But he has been a regular for the Greek side, and reports now suggest the door has been closed on a switch. Parapolitika report that “contact” has been made between the clubs but AEK have been clear they “will not enter into discussions over a sale” for a “valuable member of the squad.”
In contrast, the door has remained open to bring back Joe Aribo this month.
Aribo has struggled for regular game time in the Championship this term after the Southampton finished rock bottom of the Premier League – leading to his second relegation since leaving Ibrox behind in 2022 – and had to wait until November for his first appearance of the season.
The 29-year-old has remained a fan favourite with the Light Blues’ faithful having written his name in Rangers history by netting in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Boss Tom Eckert admits that every played will be evaluated this month as they revamp the squad.
He told the Daily Echo: “In the end, I think every player needs to be looked at individually. There is a story for every player that started way before I came in,” Eckert explained.
“For every single one, we need to decide on what is best for the club, which always comes first, and what is best for the player, the group, and come to a decision for all three.
